SD16
The all-rounder
The machine most South African contractors start with. Light enough to float on a standard low-bed, strong enough for daily layer work and stripping.
Power
120 kW
Weight
17.0 t
Blade
4.5 m³
Shantui has built dozers since 1952 and is the largest producer of crawler bulldozers in the world. In South Africa the SD range runs from the 17-tonne SD16 on civils and landfill through to the 106-tonne SD90 stripping overburden on opencast pits.

Built for abrasive ground
South African sites punish machines: abrasive quartzite, 35 °C shade temperatures, dust that finds every seal and diesel of variable quality. The SD range is specified around that reality.
Indicative specifications. Final configuration depends on blade type, ripper selection, track shoe width and the guarding package for your application.

The same base machine can be three different tools. We configure around your material, not a catalogue default.
Best for fine grading, spreading and short-push work where control matters more than volume.
The South African default. Roughly 15% more capacity than straight, still controllable on layer work.
Maximum volume for long, straight pushes in light to medium material: coal, stockpile and reclaim.
Single-shank for hard rock penetration; three-shank parallelogram for scarifying and higher volume.
Fire suppression, proximity detection interfaces, isolator systems, cab guarding, rock deflectors and reflective marking, built and certified to your mine's standard before delivery.
SD16, SD22 and SD32 can leave our workshop with masts, hydraulic taps and cab wiring pre-installed for 3D grade control, so your Trimble or Topcon kit bolts straight on.
Straight answers to what customers actually ask before they sign. Anything else, just ask us.
Tell us the material, the push distance and the hours per month. You will get a model, a configuration, a delivered price and a cost per hour.
